Moruya Plays in Bill Turner Trophy Final

On 30 July, the Under 15’s Moruya High School Girls team travelled to Albury to participate in the final of the Bill Turner Trophy.

The team put in a great deal of effort to get to this stage, winning against St Claire’s College in Canberra 3-0 to become the NSW finalist. Throughout the year, Moruya won all games, achieving some particularly high scores of 15-0 and 13-0.

In Albury, the weather conditions were quite cold and the girls really needed to work hard if they wanted to win. They knew it was going to be a tough game and gave it their all against the strong Victorian team. By half time there was still no score for either team. Despite both teams having had plenty of shots on goal, neither could put any away.

About twenty minutes into the second half of the match, the Victorian team scored a magnificent goal leaving the score at 1-0. Although Moruya tried for the remainder of the game, they were unable to even the score and narrowly missed out on the win with a final score of 1-0.
